Get a Library Card Already!

It helps you and your community.

I have seen lots of talk on the internet recently about libraries being “useless” and not needed anymore in our society. I think this couldn’t be more untrue. I have always been a big fan of my local libraries. They have been a place for me to escape. A place full of resources. A refuge.

Even if you don’t think yourself to be a reader, there are so many more things that you can get out of going to the library and supporting it.

I urge you to get a library card because it helps boost the funding that they get which in turn allows them to offer more resources to the public!

Most libraries have these and many other resources:

• Books! Not just physical but ebooks and audiobooks too.
• A heated or air conditioned space.
• Movies. Most places have DVDs but I’ve heard that some libraries give out Roku sticks with streaming services!
• Bathrooms.
• Temporary shelter from rain, snow, or other weather events.
• An internet connection.
• Local resources. (pamphlets and fliers)
