sick and sweet

a poem.

I keep his love close
cradled in my soft hands
enveloped by unnerving warmth

I am like some careless kid
a palm full of sugary candy
that melts between my fingers

I can choose to discard it
or eat whatever is left
but it can never be put back

I play into the illusion of choice
and consume every bit
it still tastes just as sweet

A simple and short little poem for today! Feels so good to get back into this groove. But I have got to get better at writing longer-form poetry. Eh, another time.
